Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to
1) make conscious choices about communication strategies in different academic and professional contexts
2) collaborate in teams, negotiating to solve problems and presenting information clearly and concisely
3) plan and deliver a presentation, which activates the audience and adheres to academic and professional conventions
4) give and receive constructive feedback
5) understand the effects of culture on communication and apply this knowledge in communication situations.


This course emphasizes the importance of communicative competence as part of students’ expertise. The course will focus on developing skills and strategies for negotiation and problem solving, collaborative teamwork and intercultural communication.

Students will have an opportunity to develop academic communication skills and strategies, vocabulary in their field and confidence through focused pair, small-group and class activities.
